About this project
Why I made this calendar

I moved back to San Francisco last year, and found myself curious about this city in a way I hadn't been before. I started binge-buying SF history books, listening to history podcasts in the car, and watching YouTube documentaries about places in the city I'd frequented but never knew their origins.
Through the alternative lives exercise in The Artist's Way, I named one of mine as a historian. I won't become one, but with my background in product design, I can make something that scratches that itch.
The spark for this specific project came shortly after the 120th anniversary of the 1906 earthquake. I took myself on an artist date to a historical theatre presentation about the quake, and it left a lasting impression on me. I was also inspired by the wall calendar by the host of the Creative Pep Talk podcast hanging in my room, evidence that a well-made calendar can be both a functional object and a piece of art.
So I made this calendar, and I'm still making it. There's more editorial work to do before it goes to print, but it will be ready in a few months. Reserve a copy and I'll reach out when it's ready.
